Mustard tilapia recipes

Tilapia is a delicious fish which originated in Africa. But now is available throughout the world. This fish is adaptable to any kind of cooking and hence its recipes have taken on the local flavor where it is eaten and cooked. This fish is bred on fish farms hence there is no danger of it becoming extinct like some species of edible fish. This fish is very low on fat, has no saturated fats and is high on proteins. Tilapia is mostly available as a white fish but it is also available as a red skinned fish whose flesh is also red in color. This fish is very popular for grilling and broiling as it takes very less time to cook. The flavor of this fish can be enhanced by using different ingredients like parmesan cheese, basil, bell peppers, onions etc. One popular way of cooking tilapia is with mustard.

The flavor of tilapia is bettered with a delicious Dijon topping. This topping is made using Dijon mustard, mayonnaise and chopped pecans. In order to cut down on the calories and fat, one can use herbs instead of pecans or low fat mayonnaise. The preparation time for this recipe is 5 minutes and cooking time is 15 minutes.

Ingredient:

Mayonnaise ½ a cup
Brown mustard, like the French spicy and bold ¼ cup
Tilapia fillets 1 pound, should be thawed if frozen
Finely chopped pecans1/4 cups

Preparation:

Take a large baking pan which is shallow and is buttered lightly. The mustard and mayonnaise is mixed using a small bowl. The fish is patted lightly with paper towels to dry. The fish fillets are arranged in a prepared baking pan. The mayonnaise and mustard mixture is spread on each fillet. Then each fillet is sprinkled using chopped pecans, and pressed down gently.
This preparation is then baked in an oven preheated to 350 degrees for approximately 15 minutes, until the tilapia flakes comfortably with the use of a fork. This preparation is then served with tomato slices and broccoli. This recipe is good for 4 servings.
